Kelly Dodd has a unique connection to the band. Like band leader, Logan Penington, she is also from Nebraska and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Before she knew Logan, she had the privilege of working with his father, well-known Nebraska conductor and composer, Chuck Penington, when he was musical director of the Miss Nebraska Pageant and Kelly was a two-time finalist.

Kelly grew up around music and musicians and has been a performer her entire life. Her dad was lead guitarist in some of Western Nebraska’s busiest country bands and, as a child, she was always thrilled to be invited on stage to sing a song or two. However, Kelly did not begin singing regularly in cover bands until after she moved to Wisconsin over twenty years ago to attend Marquette University Law School.

Since then, she has been performing in award-winning area bands for over twelve years, frequently playing at Summerfest, State Fair, and other major area festivals where she is well-regarded as a charismatic and memorable front-woman.

When Kelly is not performing, she writes humorous crime novels with her brother under the pen name “Archer Hay.” She has five published novels to her credit, one of which was a number one bestseller in both Canada and Australia.
